Health Benefits of Exercise

Regular exercise can help protect you from heart disease and stroke, high blood pressure, noninsulin-dependent diabetes, obesity, back pain, osteoporosis, and can improve your mood and help you to better manage stress.
For the greatest overall health benefits, experts recommend that you do 20 to 30 minutes of aerobic activity three or more times a week and some type of muscle strengthening activity and stretching at least twice a week. However, if you are unable to do this level of activity, you can gain substantial health benefits by accumulating 30 minutes or more of moderate-intensity physical activity a day, at least five times a week.
If you have been inactive for a while, you may want to start with less strenuous activities such as walking or swimming at a comfortable pace. Beginning at a slow pace will allow you to become physically fit without straining your body. Once you are in better shape, you can gradually do more strenuous activity.

Story of a Silly Footballer and a Silly Boy

It would be wrong to demonise the Chelsea player as a flint-hearted bully for trying to get the ball from a 17-year-old who knew exactly what he was doing.

Apologies in advance if any of this sounds harsh but there was a point, before Eden Hazard was shown the real thing, when it would have been no surprise if Charlie Morgan had bravely staggered to his feet and started waving an imaginary red card towards the referee.

SUPER EAGLES IN AFCON 2013 VS BURKINA FASO

Nigerians are hoping Super Eagles wont put them in their usual trend of carrying calculator all around towards the end of the group stage as as Nigeria drew 1–1 with Burkina Faso in Africa Cup of Nations Group C opening match.

Alain Traore slid home in the 94th minute as the Super Eagles failed to stop Jonathan Pitroipa's cutback.
Emmanuel Emenike had opened the scoring after 23 minutes, showing great hunger to latch onto Ideye Brown's flick.
However, Kalu Uche should have doubled Nigeria's lead in a second half when defender Efe Ambrose was sent off.
Nigeria needed to win in order to establish an early lead in Group C, and they came out all guns blazing. Chelsea's John Obi Mikel played a vital role in the opening stages, serving as the Super Eagles' playmaker from deep and threading several impressive passes out wide to open up Burkina Faso's defence.
Brown Ideye nearly opened the scoring when he latched onto an Ahmed Musa cross only to hammer well over goalkeeper's crossbar from close range, one of Mikel's long passes very nearly resulted in a penalty kick and then Ideye stole a header from Fengor Ogude when the latter looked set to find the back of the net.
The minnows were hardly there to sit around and absrob the pressure, however, and some lackadaisical defending from Josef Yobo led to a spell of pressure on Vincent Enyeama's goal that Nigeria did well to navigate.
Then, in a flash, the favourites were ahead.
Mikel was the instigator once more, the midfielder launching a superb pass over the defence for Ideye to knock down into the penalty area. In a flash, Emmanuel Emenike was there, stealing between a pair of defenders to plant the ball past a helpless Abdoulaye Soulama.
The rest of the half followed the game's set pattern. Nigeria had the better of the chances but Burkina Faso were certainly competitive, doing a credible job in holding possession and moving around the football. It was clear that the Super Eagles needed to grab another goal in order to be entirely comfortable with their lead.
That need was emphasised early in the second half when Burkina Faso ripped open the Nigeria defence, with Jonathan Pitroipa breaking down the right and swinging in a superb cross for the unmarked Moumouni Dagano.
Instead of beating Vincent Enyeama, however, the captain somehow contrived to let the ball glance off his shoulder and bounce to relative safety.
Brown nearly made it 2-0 after being played in by Mikel only to be denied by Soulama before substitute Ikechukwu Uche missed a gilt-edged chance of his own in lashing well wide when he should have scored.
Meanwhile, Burkina Faso were taking advantage of their opponents' commitment to the attack, exploiting in particular the holes behind the fullbacks to worry Enyeama and the Nigeria back line.
Then disaster struck. Efe Ambrose was already on a yellow card, and the Celtic fullback ended up isolated against Pitroipa on the right. His opponent having flicked the ball over him and starting a sprint into the area, Ambrose moved to haul him down, giving away a free kick and reducing his side to ten men in the process.
Kenneth Omeruo came on at right back to replace the captain, and the rest of the match was essentially a holding action for the Super Eagles.
It looked as though Burkina Faso wouldn't quite have the quality to take advantage of the red card, but in the last minute of injury time the match was turned on its head.
Traore, on as a substitute, would be the man who broke Nigerian hearts with a side-footed finish beyond Enyeama, but the man most responsible for the goal was the superb Pitroipa, who demolished the defence with an impressive run and cut back -- through Godfrey Obobona legs -- for Traore to slam home and send Burkina Faso's supporters into raptures.

ALL ABOUT AFCON 2013

         AFCON 2013 Guide

The 29th Africa Cup of Nations, hosted by South Africa, kicks off in Johannesburg, Soccer City, on January 19, 2013 and runs until February 10, 2013, at Soccer City.

Duration:

Afcon 2013 will be held over a 22-day period from the opening match to the finals. There will be six match-free days in between, meaning, there will be 16 match days. For the most part, there will be two matches daily on those days.

Teams and Groups:

Sixteen countries will be taking part in the tournament, with South Africa qualified as hosts. They are joined by 15 countries from the qualifying rounds that have produced casualties in a proportion never seen in the history of the tournament.

Missing in Action:

The traditional powerhouses of the tournament will be missing, including Egypt, who have won the last three of the last four tournaments and seven in total (1957, 1959, 1986, 1998, 2006, 2008, 2010), Cameroon (1984, 1988, 2000, 2002) and Senegal.

THE STORY OF A LEGEND

Zinédine Zidane (born 1972) was the toast of France after leading that country to its only World Cup soccer championship in 1998. The midfielder, nicknamed "Zizou," scored twice in the championship match that year as the French, playing at home, defeated Brazil.
Amid the soccer euphoria, Zidane, a devout Muslim born to Algerian immigrants, was also embraced as an ethnic unifier. But Zidane left the game in disgrace in 2006. With France back in the World Cup final, Zidane, in what he said would be his final game, was ejected from the title match for a head butt during overtime. The French, without Zidane for the shootout, lost to Italy. "Zinédine Zidane has written glorious chapters in football's recent history—how sad that he should save the most shameful episode for the final page of his story," Phil McNulty wrote on the British Broadcasting Corporation's website, BBC Sport.

Its the Hat-trick of Red Card in 2013 for them

A red card per match
Once again, Real Madrid ended a game with ten players. Since the beginning of 2013, that has been the norm. Three games played and three red cards. The first player to be sent off was Sergio Ramos for a second yellow card offense. The centre-back was then handed a five-match ban for insulting referee Ayza Gámez.
After that came Adán's straight red card. The goalkeeper brought down Vela in what was a clear chance on goal. Iker came on for the starting keeper, whose one-match suspension saw him miss yesterday's game.
It was Kaká's turn in Pamplona. The Brazilian barely lasted 17 minutes on the pitch. He came on for Higuaín and straight away was given his first yellow card for elbowing Rubén whilst jumping for a ball. However, Kaká could have avoided his second yellow card.
He obstructed the taking of a free-kick, although the Osasuna player took full advantage of the situation by quickly taking a short free-kick directly at the Madrid player, leaving him little time to react. According to the rule book, that is a yellow card, end of story. In fact, Kaká walked off the pitch with his head bowed, fully aware that he'd walked into the trap and apologised to Mourinho before heading to the dressing room for an early shower.
Including Kaká's, Real Madrid has received 27 red cards since José Mourinho's arrival at the club. The strangest thing is that Real Madrid played better in the closing stages with 10 men.

One Way To Live An Healthy Life

One Important Task To Do Every Morning

Morning exercise is a fantastic way to get your metabolism running and your body moving before you start your day. With busy work and school schedules and a number of other tasks to complete later on during the day, many people find that they only time that they’re able to get any exercise is in the morning.

If you plan to exercise in the morning, it will take more than dedication and a little motivation. You’ll also need to plan for some of the dangers and potential risks of morning exercise. Doing so will ensure that you remain safe and that you maximize the benefits you can receive from exercising.

  1. Eat Something First
  2. While it’s generally not a good idea to eat a large meal right before you exercise, it is a good plan to consume a small item just to get your metabolism going. Eat something like a granola bar or a handful of nuts about 15 minutes or so before you begin your morning exercise. This will help to stave off stomach upset as you work out and will serve to help you lose weight more easily, if that’s your goal.

  3. Drink Plenty of Water
  4. It’s always a good idea to drink water before and during your exercise routines, and this is no less true in the morning. Drink a little bit of water 15 minutes before you begin exercising, and then continue to drink water every 30 or 45 minutes while you’re working out. Drink a lot of water after you finish, to make sure that you’re hydrated for the day.

  5. Stretch
  6. If you plan to work any specific muscle groups when you exercise in the morning, it’s a good idea to stretch first. This will help to ensure that you don’t pull or strain any muscles. Take a few minutes to walk around and make sure that your body is awake and warmed up before you stretch.

  7. Bundle Up
  8. If you’re going to exercise outside and it’s cold, you may want to bundle up a bit. Depending upon what time of day and what time of year it is, as well as where you are, you may need to bundle up more or less. This is a good thing to keep in mind before you leave the house; if you’re too cold as you exercise, you may not be able to continue as long as you’d hoped.

After your daily morning exercise you will realise how much more you are good to go for the days work. The more you exercise consistently, the lesser your chance of see the Doctor and the greater your chance of becoming Healthier.

5 Greatest, Purest Athletes of all Time

Carl Lewis- Track and Field
Lewis was a dominant sprinter and long jumper who topped the world rankings in the 100 m200 m and long jump events frequently from 1981 to the early 1990s, was named Athlete of the Year by Track & Field News in 1982, 1983, and 1984, and set world records in the 100 m, 4 × 100 m and 4 × 200 m relays. His world record in the indoor long jump has stood since 1984 and his 65 consecutive victories in the long jump achieved over a span of 10 years is one of the sport’s longest undefeated streaks.
Nine Olympic gold medals, endless records broken and plenty of fans jumping on the Lewis bandwagon.

Pele- Soccer
The quintessential footballer, Pele was essentially perfect in his delivery on the pitch. After being signed by local club Santos at the tender age of 16, the man born Edson Arantes do Nascimento quickly established his greatness, becoming the top scorer in the Brazilian league in his first season. He would eventually record 589 goals in 605 appearances with the squad.
Grace headlined his game, and goal-scoring topped his legacy. But it was Pele's natural ability to soar down the field by helpless defenders, that truly instigated his reputation as the best ever.
With or without the ball, Pele was unstoppable.

Usain Bolt- Track and Field
The first man to hold both the 100-meter and 200-meter world records, Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt truly shocked the world when he began tarnishing his own records.
He replaced a time of 19.30 seconds in the 200-meter with an unprecedented 19.19, and trounced his previous time of 9.68 in the 100-meter with a time of 9.58. At this point, the fastest man ever is simply rewriting his own record books.

Micheal Jordan- NBA
We'll always associate Air Jordan with high-flying posterizations and seizure-provoking last-second drains, but let's not forget what the greatest basketball player of all time did away from the court.
As a 31-year-old rookie with the Double-A Birmingham Barons, the then-recently-retired Jordan hit .202 with 51 RBI and 30 stolen bases in 127 games, as well as .252 in the Arizona Fall League against top prospects, before sprinting back to basketball. Overall, golf may be his greatest art. He sinks 55-foot chip shots with ease.

 Rafer Johnson- Track and Field
He won the silver medal with an injured knee in the 1956 Olympic decathlon and the gold medal in Rome four years later against good friend and training buddy C.K. Yang, but we're far more inspired by Rafer Johnson's worldly travels.
Not only did he play under legendary coach John Wooden at UCLA, but Johnson was drafted in the 28th round of the 1959 NFL Draft as a tailback by the Rams. In the end, it was clear Johnson always had his sights set on one goal—Olympic glory.

What's your Excuse of not been Successful?

The world of sports is full of courageous stories. This article will bring to you two sportsmen who have the courage to excel and beat against all odds to achieve the unthinkable. In a field where physical strength is the most important factor, these athletes showed human will is a more significant thing. If you have been struggling to excel in life or sports because of your age or because of physical limitations, the two athletes will inspire you to achieve your dreams.

Cliff Young- the ultra marathon runner

A potato farmer, Cliff Young took part in a Sydney to Melbourne ultra-marathon race in 1983. Coached by his mother who’s 81 during the time, Cliff Young started the marathon with work boots and galoche overalls.
Competing against world-class marathon runners who were backed up by big sports companies and had hundreds of hours preparing for the race, Cliff Young’s informal training regime consists in running for his sheep. He told the organizers that if he can run after his sheep for a few days, he could surely compete with other runners.
The ultra marathon normally took 5 days to complete and this potato farmer’s decision seemed suicidal. In fact, some tried to stop him from running the super-difficult race because they though Cliff Young could die due to the heat and fatigue. After all, he’s 61 years old!
To cut the story short, Cliff Young managed to finish the race. While the young racers sleep, he continued the race throughout the night. The young athletes left him far behind until the very last night where he eventually lead the marathon.
Not only Cliff Young, a 61-year-old potato farmer survived the race; he even managed to win the marathon and actually broke the race record by 9 hours! He even gave away his prize money to the rest of the runners after him.
After the win, he continued to run in many ultra-marathon races and has even sets standards in the world of endurance racing. His running style – dubbed “The Cliff Shuffle” is a famous running technique adopted by many runners in the world today.
Cliff Young showed that being old is not a barrier. And being a champion doesn’t mean you need have super-human strength, just super-human wills.

James Braddock – the fairy tale boxer

In 1928, James Braddock was a successful amateur boxer who broke his arthritis hand in several places during a fight for a chance for championship. He lost the game but continued his boxing career with an injured hand because he needed the money. As a result, his career floundered and he had eventually lost his boxing license when the boxing authority deemed him an embarrassment to the sport.
Out of work, James Braddock found himself in a difficult situation as the Great Depression swept the country of her wealth. Along with million other Americans, James Braddock went under, with no money or career to put food on the table of his young family.
Struggled to even buy milk, James Braddock waited at the harbor docks for jobs. Not wanting to be out of work, he made sure no one knew about his injury. During the difficult time, the family struggled with little food and had even had their electricity cut during winter.
In 1934, a few years in poverty and under government assistance, Braddock was asked to fill in a spot as a temporary boxer. Out of shape, Braddock was seen as an easy opponent. In what was considered a big upset, Braddock crushed his high rank opponent much to the amazement of boxing fans. With the help of his ex-manager, his license was eventually restored.
A veteran boxer with almost no chance of a career revival, Braddock defied his critics and won games after games and managed to eventually come back from a dead career. He ultimately went on to fight the World Heavyweight Champion during the time – Max Baer. A tall, powerful boxer, Max had actually killed a few of his opponents in the ring.
A small boxer, fans hoped Braddock wouldn’t be killed during the fight. Most believed that his fairy tale revival would end on the night he fought Baer
. It was a difficult fight for Braddock. He took heavy beatings and even broke his ribs during the match. However, he fought until the end of the fight and eventually won the World Boxing Heavyweight Championship, much to the amazement of the whole country.
He earned the nickname “The Cinderella Man” from this amazing comeback. From a poor, forgotten boxer, James Braddock went on to be the heavyweight champion of the world.
These courageous sportsmen are human beings just like you and me. But they go against all odds to achieve success not only for themselves but also inspire those who follow their careers. They don’t give excuse. They work hard. They followed their dreams. They showed that human-will is more important than anything else. They showed that success can be achieved regardless of your limitations.
So what’s your excuse?
